Fabulous fresh fruit

Fruit looks and tastes great, it’s good for us and we can eat several portions a day, so a win all round.

Unfortunately fresh fruit often gets thrown away as it can go off very quickly. As it’s such a fab food, we want to help you make the most of it so why not check out our storage tips and have a go at some of our fruity recipes.

Apples

  • Last up to two weeks longer in the fridge in their original packaging. If you buy them loose, pop them in a reusable container in the fridge.

  • Apples can be frozen in slices after they have been quickly cooked in boiling water. Freeze in a single layer, then pack into bags once frozen.

  • Use up surplus apples in an Apple and ginger cake or Spiced pumpkin and apple loaf. Wrinkly apples are great for pickles and chutneys.

Bananas

Citrus fruits
