This healthy twist on pizza makes an easy meal with little effort. They’re budget-friendly and kids will love making their own – just add whatever toppings you’ve got and bake until crisp and melty.

Ingredients

  • 4 wholewheat pitta breads (2 per person)

  • 4 tsp tomato puree

  • 1 packet of ham

  • 50g mature cheddar, grated

  • Basil leaves (Optional)

Method

  1. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6 and put a baking tray inside to heat up. Spread each pitta with 1 tsp tomato purée. Top with ham and cheese (or any other toppings that you are using.)

  2. Place on the hot tray and bake for 10 minutes until the pittas are crisp, the cheese has melted and the ham has frazzled edges.

To serve

  • Scatter with basil, if you like, and serve with a green salad.
