This recipe keeps things classic, using minced beef, egg, and breadcrumbs to create tender, flavourful burgers. It’s also a great way to use up stale bread, turning those forgotten slices into a satisfying meal. Easy to make, budget‑friendly, and ideal for any day of the week.

Ingredients

  • 500g minced beef

  • 1 egg 2 slices of bread – made into breadcrumbs

  • Salt and pepper

    Relish

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp dried dill

  • 1 finely chopped gherkin

Method

1. Put the mince in a bowl with the egg, breadcrumbs and plenty of salt and pepper.

2. Scrunch together using your hands. Make sure everything is really well mixed.

3. Divide into 4 balls.

4. Roll each ball in your hands then flatten.

5. Place them on a lined tray, cover and refrigerate until needed.

6. For the relish, mix all of the ingredients together and chill until ready to serve. 6. Heat your frying pan. When it’s hot add the burgers and cook on each side for a few minutes.

7. Serve immediately with the relish.
